PayFast Voucher

PayFast has the ability to dispense vouchers which are redeemable at any PayFast merchant.

A PayFast voucher comes in the form of a 20 digit code sent to a designated mobile phone via SMS.

Note: Voucher use is currently undergoing testing and is not yet available to all users. We will notify all newsletter subscribers once testing has been completed.

How it works

  1. The buyer select items to buy on your site, and clicks Checkout when they are ready to pay.
  2. They select PayFast (or PayFast Voucher) as their payment option and are redirected to PayFast.
  3. They either register or login on PayFast and select PayFast Voucher as their payment option.
  4. They enter the 20 digit PayFast Voucher Number as well as the value of the voucher.
  5. PayFast redeems the voucher and gives the buyer a change voucher (if required).
  6. PayFast then returns the buyer to your site.
  7. You are notified of payment via email (optional) or your eCommerce site is automatically updated via ITN.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I opt not to accept PayFast vouchers?

Unfortunately, in order to market PayFast vouchers effectively, they must be able to be used at all PayFast merchants, so no, acceptance of PayFast vouchers is required for all PayFast merchants.

Are vouchers transferrable?

Yes, just like a physical voucher, a PayFast voucher can be transferred by forwarding the SMS or email with the voucher number.
