PayFast has been growing at a very impressive and accelerating rate over the past few years. We’re constantly looking for capable and motivated individuals to help us grow South Africa’s best online payment gateway.
About The Position
We’re looking for a Marketing Coordinator/Marketing Assistant to join our ranks. Hey, it’s a new position: we can come up with a quirky Marketing Guru description if you’re into that. You’ll be responsible to help coordinate PayFast’s marketing efforts, both online and off.
In the real world, this might include helping organise smaller local hackathons and events (hand out company swag and keep people fueled on pizza, Red Bull and beer), coordinating our involvement in bigger conferences (sponsorships and display stands) and occasionally meeting with some of our key partners for breakfast, coffee or a cheeky sundowner.
Online, this might include helping out with the website copy, our social channels, graphic design, UX review, advertising, sales and more.
We’re still a lean team, and you’ll get to wear a lot of different hats on the job. There’s potential overlap with support, operations and business development, so an interest or experience in any of those fields would be beneficial. You’ll be reporting to (and working closely with) the Head of Marketing.
About the Company
PayFast was started in 2007 and has grown into one of South Africa’s leading online payment gateways. We are trusted by thousands of online sellers to process payments for them in a variety of ways, including credit cards, Instant EFT and Bitcoin. Our office is in Tokai, Cape Town (so if you live in town, expect a 25 minute drive against traffic).
You’re a fun, sharp and atentive person (you, for instance, immediately noticed the typo in this sentence). You have some appropriate work experience and ideally a diploma or a degree in a relevant area (business, marketing, communication, design). Getting top marks for your tests surely is impressive, but we’re far more interested in your personality; who you are and where you’re heading.
We’re looking for someone who is professional –driven, self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines in a fast-changing environment—also someone who has good interpersonal and communication skills —happy to meet up for a coffee or a cocktail before, after or during office hours. You have your own transportation and you’re okay with flying to Johannesburg a few times each year with some of the other team members.
- Competitive salary
- Company laptop
- Ability to do some work remotely
- R500/mo to further relevant education (Lynda, Treehouse, Udemy, coding classes etc.)
- Generous travel allowance on hotels, meals and flights (for work travel, not your December break)
As soon as humanly possible (but we are willing to wait for the perfect candidate).
It should take you around 10 minutes to complete the application. We are very fortunate to receive a lot of applications, so do yourself (and us) a favour and do some research on PayFast; what we do, what we could do and how you think you can contribute. Grammar and spelling (including the company’s name) matters. Applications containing LOLspeak will be promptly incinerated.
We’ll also ask for your C.V. (in PDF format) and a cover letter, so make sure you have those tailored and ready before you start.
