Since 2011, the Net Prophet Startup Workshop has run alongside the annual Net Prophet Conference in Cape Town. This year the event has evolved into Net Prophet Sparkup! which is a challenge for passionate small business founders looking to get investment and take a product to market. Startup teams who are interested in pitching need to apply for consideration into the Sparkup! programme. The chosen teams work through three intense days of workshops and pre-investment grooming at the UCT Graduate School of Business in Cape Town from 1 to 4 April 2016.
The event kicks off on Friday with open mic pitches. Saturday and Sunday teams can expect to receive practical skills with a focus on various aspects of launching your startup, the ultimate aim will be improving business skills and grooming presentations for a pitch to investors. Seasoned business mentor Permjot Valia, founder of MentorCamp Canada, will conduct business coaching sessions and will test startup founders on all aspects of their business models. The collaborative learning style workshops, lectures, as well as one-to-one mentorship sessions will cover a wide range of topics from branding, online marketing and much more.
Ultimately, the startup teams will be tasked with perfecting their pitches. Only the best will be given an opportunity to pitch in front of a live audience to a panel of angels for on the spot investment at Sparkup! Live. PayFast is once again a proud sponsor of the Net Prophet Sparkup! event which is growing from strength to strength.
