PayFast donation to Volunteer Wildfire Services

Posted by

There has been a sad picture right outside the PayFast office for the past couple of days, with huge, life-threatening fires burning up big parts of the mountainside.

Firefighters and volunteers have been working around the clock since Sunday in trying to contain the danger. We’re all very moved by the brave efforts of all the workers and volunteers in keeping the community, fauna and flora from further harm.

It is with immeasurable pride and gratitude that the team at PayFast have pledged R10,000 to the dedicated men and women of the Volunteer Wildfire Services (you can follow them on Twitter or Facebook to see their amazing work).

From everyone here at the office: thank you!

Update

With the fires still blazing through, we assisted Volunteer Wildfire Services in setting up a PayFast donations account, where the public can make quick, small and secure donations to their efforts. All transaction fees on donations processed through the account will be waived for the month of March.

PayFast-powered WooCommerce meetup

Posted by

In a short few years WooCommerce (brought to you by the superb, home-grown WooThemes) has grown into one of the biggest and most popular self-hosted eCommerce platforms out there.

woocommerce-capetown

We’re proud to be a sponsor of their Cape Town meetup event –keeping everyone fueled on pizza, beer and soft drinks— and we’ll also be hosting a panel titled “eCommerce in South Africa” with discussing the local trends with some of the Woo and industry heavyweights. Anyone with an interest in or questions about WordPress, eCommerce, WooCommerce and/or PayFast is encouraged to register and attend. The event is on Wednesday, February 25th in Woodstock, Cape Town. There are a very limited amount of seats available; you can register here.

About WooCommerce

WooCommerce is a very easy way to quickly and cost-effectively build an eCommerce store after you’ve purchased your domain and hosting. For a quick MVP, simply install WordPress (free), install WooCommerce (free), add the PayFast plugin (free) and hey presto, you’ve got your very own online store :-)

The event is broken into two sections: the conference and the expo (hence “Confex”). Many of the industry heavyweights –a variety of leaders, success stories and companies– are scheduled as speakers for the conference.

The exhibition space will showcase more than 50 exhibitors (including PayFast), multiple workshops, networking and business meeting sessions. Those interested and involved in the industry –be it marketing, logistics, payments, platforms or otherwise– are all highly encouraged to attend.

Tickets

Delegate tickets to the conference are R4495 and are available here.

Tickets to the expo are very limited and normally priced at R120, but simply use the promo code PayFast on their ticketing page to enjoy a 100% discount.

You’re welcome :-)

Meet us

For anyone interested in meeting up or having their questions answered, we’ll have a stand with our friendly staff in attendance on both days of the Confex. You can also reach out to us on Twitter @PayFast beforehand.

Our MD and founder, Jonathan Smit, will conduct a free workshop in the expo area on Payments in South Africa on the Wednesday at 10:00am.

We’re really proud to be a sponsor of what seems to be a very polished event and we’re excited to rub shoulders with some of the other leaders in eCommerce, logistics, warehousing, security and more!
