Looking for new ways to fund a startup?

Our friends at Entrepreneur Traction in partnership with the Cape SA Jewish Board of Duties will be hosting an exclusive business breakfast with the General Partner and CTO of OurCrowd Gadi Mazor.

Gadi Mazor, a former Talpion, trained in Mathematics and Probability, has founded and managed three startup companies in the fields of character and voice recognition and wireless communications.

OurCrowd is an equity-based crowdfunding platform, built exclusively for a select group of accredited investors to provide venture capital funding for Israeli (and later global) venture capital start-ups.

For the chance to WIN double tickets (Valued at R300) and join us at the exclusive ADVenture Capitalism business breakfast simply comment below telling us briefly about what you believe are the challenges surrounding startup funding in South Africa.

If we think you’re onto something then you’ll be joining us at the breakfast on Thursday 12  March.

*Please note you will need to be based in the Cape Town or the surrounding areas in order to attend the event.

  1. I have written a long response on here and decided to delete it due to its negativity. I am not a negative person, but do find it extremely difficult to find funding for my start up.
I have had many great business opportunities and can prove that some of them has actually worked saving companies millions of Rands, the only thing is that this only happens when you work for a company that already has the funds to develop your ideas.
There are no institutions that are willing to even listen to you unless you have been trading for 2 years or more. You can subscribe to angel investment website at a cost, but if you cannot even afford these costs you cant find investors. Also these networks have no guarantee that you will find an investor. Also if you do get in touch with a potential investor they want to see a business plan. I have tried to write my business plan but don’t have the knowledge to do so and have failed miserably. You can ask someone to write a business plan for you, but yet again that comes at an un-affordable cost.
The list and examples are endless, but I will keep trying till my dying day, as I see value in what I have to offer.
