WordCamp 2016

WordCamp 2016 has come and gone.

This year WordCamp saw two full days packed with engaging workshops, knowledgeable speakers, golf, SWAG, and an after party. All held at the River Club in Cape Town. We think all attendees will agree it was a WordCamp to remember.

PayFast was lucky enough to be a sponsor and we couldn’t be prouder to be a part of an event that supports a community of WordPress users. This year attendees were split into three streams. Users, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each stream got a chance to take part in workshops given by industry experts. It was a great way for attendees to ask questions and be inspired by the potential of WordPress. Our very own developer Igor Kolodziejczyk felt that:

The friendliness and approachability of the attendees, the speakers, and the community is awesome. The interactivity of the Intermediate and Advanced tracks really impressed me. The hands-on approach to learning is great for reinforcement. – Igor Kolodziejczyk, developer, PayFast

The second day involved talks about how to get involved in the WordPress community. The opportunities discussed were endless, even if you weren’t a WordPress guru. Throughout the day we were lucky enough to be treated to the hilarious ‘not so WordPress knowledgeable’ Derick Watts and the Sunday Blues. A comedy duo from Cape Town, who were MCs for the day.

As part of our sponsorship PayFast gave out discounted tickets on Twitter. One of our winners gave us some feedback on their experience of the event:

WordCamp 2016 was a fantastic experience. As first time attendees from a small agency, we thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on workshops and discussions which will help us in our own business. The event was well-attended by everyone in the industry from designers to advanced developers, so we felt right at home. Thanks for the opportunity to attend! – Dominique Kotzé, co-founder, Yellow Door Collective

Well, only 365 days until WordCamp 2017. We’re counting down already. Who knows what next year will  hold. See you there!
