Children’s Hospital – the largest stand-alone tertiary hospital in sub-Saharan Africa, dedicated entirely to children.
The Trust is an independent, non-profit organisation that relies on the benevolence of donors to realise its aims.
During the past two decades the Children’s Hospital Trust has raised over R600 million to upgrade and expand the Hospital’s buildings, purchase state-of-the-art equipment and develop professional staff – ensuring that this extraordinary beacon of hope, remains a world-class and globally-respected medical facility.
In 2011 the Trust expanded its fundraising reach beyond the Hospital’s doors to impact more broadly on the quality of healthcare for children at more community touch-points. Projects and programmes prioritised will always impact directly on the services and outcomes at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.
100% of all donations go directly to the Hospital and prioritised child healthcare needs, and not a single cent is spent on administration costs.
With over 20 years’ experience and an impeccable track record, the Children’s Hospital Trust has entrenched itself as a highly respected leader in the funding of critical needs in child healthcare in South Africa and Africa. Whilst we have raised millions of Rands to address many pressing child healthcare needs to date, there is still so much more to be done.
The Journey back to Childhood
The Red Cross Children’s Hospital does not operate in isolation, but rather within a health ‘ecosystem’ that starts at a community clinic level and progresses to specialist hospital care. A child’s journey through the healthcare system is therefore often dependent on the quality of care they receive from more than one medical intervention.
Through funding gaps in paediatric healthcare, the Children’s Hospital Trust is able to impact more broadly on the quality of healthcare for many more children – giving them the hope of a second chance at childhood.
