Request Payment

Individuals, businesses and charities can all accept online payments, even if you don’t have a website. PayFast’s Request Payment feature allows you to accept payments made by your customers for your goods or services.

All you will need is the buyer’s email address and generate a payment request through our Request Payment feature. They will be able to click a link in the email and can pay via any of the payment methods you offer.

How to generate a payment request

  1. Login to your account or register for one if you’re new to PayFast
  2. Go to the Request Payment page and select the “Generate” button
  3. Enter the buyer’s email and other required information
  4. Click “Send Request”
  5. They will receive an email with a clickable link to complete the requested payment


Can the buyer pay by credit card?

The buyer will be able to pay via any of payment methods offered on your account. If you are able to accept payments funded by credit cards, then yes, the buyer will be able to pay via credit card.

Does a payment request ever expire?

Yes, a payment request will expire 2 weeks from the date it was originally sent. It must be fulfilled by this time or it will lapse and you will need to create a further request if needed.
