Bhabhisana Baby Project

The Bhabhisana Baby Project's aim is to improve the quality of life and long-term functional abilities of babies born with disabilities or developmental problems (between the ages of 0-2 years) through parent training and early multi-disciplinary therapy intervention; and to support and empower their mothers and carers in their journey with their baby to reach their full individual potential and promote positive infant-parent bonding.
Bhabhisana Baby Project provides parent training and multi-disciplinary therapy service that can be accessed by babies and their families until they have an appropriate appointment at their local clinic or health care centre. This multi-disciplinary therapy service consists of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy input. By having all the therapy disciplines working together as at team, The Bhabhisana Baby Project is a "one stop shop" where each baby's specific therapeutic needs can be met. We also work in close collaboration with other medical professionals, service providers and other NPO's.
Capacity building and skills development play a major part of this project, both of parents in how to manage with their babies at home; as well as for doctors, nurses and therapists at district hospitals and community health centres who need the necessary skills to be able to identify babies with delays as early as possible and provide appropriate timely, intervention
