Enkuthazweni - Disabled Childrens Project

The Enkuthazweni Special Needs Centre is based in the small coastal town of Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Our passion and purpose is to provide care, education, protection & opportunities to children and young adults with intellectual disabilities, who live in our local, disadvantaged communities. We are registered as a Non Profit Organisation (115-890 NPO) as well as a Public Benefit Organisation (930070681).

The organisation is led by an experienced and dedicated Voluntary Management Board who has been instrumental in formalising and strengthening operations. Our board is supported on the ground by a passionate team of 16 staff members, led by our Departmental Managers.

Enkuthazweni aspires to serve as a centre of excellence within the Ndlambe area by offering a safe, happy and caring environment where children and young adults, who are excluded and vulnerable due to their intellectual disability, are equipped to reach their full potential and are valued as gifts of God.

Enkuthazweni assists children and young adults, who are excluded and vulnerable due to their intellectual disability, to reach their full potential through the provision of cradle to career services including special needs education, physical therapy and skills training all of which are geared towards equipping them to develop greater independence within their family and community context.
