Jewels Smile Foundation

My name is Jewel, I’m 11 years old, and I have a Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ).
When I was 2 years old I underwent surgery to correct a TMJ Ankylosis disorder. Unfortunately as I grew the TMJ disorder worsened and caused other complications including sleep apnea.
I now require Orthognathic Jaw Surgery to correct and help my jaw function normally.
At a recent consultation the following was noted: Short chin throat length Obtuse chin throat angle Severe over jet and over bite Microgenia Dental crowding Decreased range of mouth opening secondary to bilateral gap arthroplasty done in childhood. Risk for re ankylosis and OSA.
The maxillo-facial surgeon has determined the most logical way forward for treatment is : 1. Fixed bilateral orthodontic therapy. This to prepare the dental arches and harness any residual growth potential of the mandible. 2. Bilateral TMJ replacements using custom prostheses. 3. Advancement Genioplasty.
The anticipated cost of the procedure is R525 000.
These funds are beyond the reach of my single - parent family.
Please consider making as generous a gift as you can, or pledging to do so, toward our R525 000 goal.
Your kind support can help correct my smile and for that I will be ever grateful.
