Lig & Lewe Sentrum

The Light and Life Centre is an assembly of the Pentecostal Protestant Church that was founded in 1958 in South Africa. In 1960 Pastor Pieter Heyneke joined the assembly as the first full-time pastor. He was also the man who had the vision to buy the current buildings in Rose Street. In years to come there were several other Pastors in the assembly until 1993 when Pastor Henry and DenmariƩ Young came to Paarl. Under their leadership, the assembly restored the old church buildings, (now 120 years old) renovated the hall, built extra storerooms and offices, tarred the parking area, etc. In 2005 the wall between the hall and the church had to be broken out to make more space for the growing numbers of members and visitors.

The assembly was renamed Light and Life Centre according to Psalm 36:9. It is a multi-racial Pentecostal church and services are mainly held in Afrikaans, but occasionally also in English.

In 2009 Past Rudi & Lee-Ann Young was ordained as co-pastor in the assembly. The assembly also have a full time Praise and Worship Leader. Triveno and Alecia Smith are talented young people who excel in leading the assembly in worship every Sunday. Quintin and Christel Venter, The Youth Organisers, are two passionate young peole that has a heart for the teens. The youth group is known as ELEV8 Youth.

The vision of the Light and Life Centre is FAMILY, RESTORATION and DISCIPLESHIP. This is achieved by fellowship with each other, several activities and courses. Family is important and we are not just a congregation, but a spiritual family helping each other on this journey we walk. We want to see people grow in their spiritual life and help understand their identity in Christ.

The Light and Life Centre has a bible school and its vision is to equip people for ministry in their own churches. Paarl Bible Training Centre started in 1999 and it offers a three year course that leads to an Advanced Diploma in Ministry. It is affiliated with Christian Life Tutors in Pretoria.
