LIISR

Leadstrong Institute for International Species Recovery

The vision of LIISR is to contribute to the recovery of threatened species. In South Africa, our most immediate attention is focused on the rhino. In 2017 alone, 1028 rhinos were killed in South Africa. Demand for rhino horn and rhino products has quadrupled over the last 3 years causing a surge in white rhino poaching. The black rhino is already critically endangered.
We seek to raise funds that will be directed towards defined projects in order that you can see tangible results from the use of your donations. These projects include a rhino orphanage to care for young rhinos lost to the wild following the poaching of their moms; a rhino breeding programme to help increase numbers; beefing up surveillance and anti-poaching efforts in the Pilanesberg; and facilitating Community Education and Development Programmes to mobilise local communities in the Pilanesberg area.
