Olympians Academy

The Olympians Academy is based in Hout Bay, Cape Town, South Africa and was registered as a Non Profit Company (NPC) on 22nd of February 2018. The school with its unique homeschooling concept was started with the vision to protect our children as the “lack of schools” became a serious problem in the area.

Our a team of dedicated teachers and staff decided to start this project to accommodate all grade 1 pupils who were unsuccessful in being placed at a school this year and our aim is to teach them how to read, write, count and learn life skills.

For far too long many of the children in this community have not been given the opportunity to education when they reach that critical foundation stage of starting school and are already past “school going age”, but have not seen the inside of a classroom.

Besides the lack of schools there are many reasons why we are faced with such a critical flaw in our community: Poverty, drug abuse, alcoholism, prostitution, rape and even murder. Parents are negligent in registering their children for school. Some just don’t care.

During the past ten years Hout Bay; a picturesque village and tourist attraction, has been plagued by violence and unrest in the neighboring township areas of Hangberg and Imizamo Yethu for many reasons, like housing and service delivery by the government.

The Olympians Academy has taken an oath to protect our children. To love them, care for them and teach them. We sincerely hope, that you will support our cause and help us to affect change.
