The Joe Slovo Foundation is a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) and Non-Profit Company registered both in in South Africa and the UK. Inspired by Joe Slovo’s legacy, the Foundation mission serves to empower least developed and impoverished African regions. Utilising a ‘Sustainable Livelihoods Approach’ combined with acute business acumen, the organization’s focus is on building resilient communities and on the entitlement of Human Rights as per Slovo’s good friend Nelson Mandela.

Established in 2010 the Foundation subscribes to the 100RC Network, seeking to adapt their knowledge and experience to the African Continent.

The foundation also formed part of the UN-OCHA World Humanitarian Summit Consultation Process and is actively engaged in supporting the Outcomes of the Summit in Africa

At his funeral Mandela described Joe as a ‘Great African Hero’ – the good will and reputation attached to his name in Africa enables the Foundation to uniquely engage politicians, business and civil society in a manner other cannot and so successfully drive out projects.
