MITS Program

• Coach Development: Training of unemployed young people as coaches and sport administrators in partnership with sport federations and like-minded organizations. The local coaches in partnership with our international volunteers assist with the implementation of the following projects.

• Physical Education Programme:
1) Senior citizens activation (helping +- 300 senior citizens to participate in sport related activities at the Portlands Indoor Centre every Monday – Wednesday morning
2) Daily Physical Education Sessions for learners at our 11 partner schools in Mitchells Plain and Atlantis

• Grade R development: quarterly events and school holiday activities (program for school and community based educare centre’s) learners aged (5-6years)

• Sport Leagues: Setting up and running of the following leagues for Mitchells Plain Schools
1) u14 Girls football league,
2) Boys and girls table tennis league,
3) Boys basketball league

• After school and school holiday programme: at Portlands Indoor Centre in Mitchells Plain and Westfleur Primary in Atlantis, allowing children to inter act through sport and learning life skills in a safe environment within the community after school and during the school holidays. Focus areas: Girls Football, Basketball, Table Tennis and Life Skills

• Life skills Program (Implementation February 2014)
1) Teaching of life skills for young people aged 14 -16 using the 1Team methodology (school based program)
2) Teaching of practical cooking and entrepreneurial skills for learners at Beacon School of LSEN (Leaners with special educational needs) at the Portlands Indoor Centre
