84% of Grade 4 children in the Eastern Cape cannot read for meaning – Pirls 2016

Ncinci Ones Montessori provides quality early childhood development to 24 young, rural Xhosa children aged 3 – 6 years. Our stimulating and safe learning environment assists these children to develop solid educational foundation and skills which are essential for all later learning and educational success. The children receive 2 nutritious meals and a calcium supplement daily, as well as 3-day deworming twice a year.

The Siyafunda After School and Holiday program provides 50 rural Xhosa children with a creative, educational program which promotes literacy and numeracy. The children develop their isiXhosa through stories, discussions and writing. Their Maths and English are developed using the online IXL Educational program on Tablets. These children are able to build strong literacy and numeracy bases during their critical foundation years. The children receive 1 nutritious meal per day.

We are looking for assistance with nutritional costs, health and hygiene of the children, learning materials and stationery for 81 young rural children.
