At Phyllis Robertson Home we provide around the clock care for 64 disabled permanent residents and a handful of daily visitors. With 62 private rooms and one shared room, the Home allows residents to be as independent as possible, while being in a safe and secure environment.
The Home cares for adults between the ages of 18 to 80 years. There are 41 full-time staff members including a registered nurse, staff nurses and care workers. Some of the residents themselves have jobs at the home and two residents have daily jobs outside of the Home.
We do all this without the support of government and every penny spent is from residents' fees or fundraising. This private facility provides more than accommodation, food and cleaning services, this is the only home for many of the residents who no longer have family or whose families are unable to take care of them at home, even for short periods. The staff and other residents become their family.
Due to the many ageing residents and the loss of financial supporters within the families for these residents, we are constantly short of cash and have to raise funds to take care of them. We are grateful for any amount, regardless of how big or small it may seem to the giver.
