The primary focus of the project is to provide extensive humanitarian and pastoral assistance to disaster-stricken communities within the relevant synodal area, including parts of the Northern Cape and North West. A disaster is defined as follo ? Any nature-related event that affects a community where it is not humanly possible to make adequate provision to deal with its impact. ? Disasters are also seen as an event that threatens a community's financial survival. ? A disaster creates an immediate need for daily sustenance to support victims as well as psychological and pastoral support. ? The scale of disasters is usually such that local institutions cannot provide adequate assistance to the victims. Help from the wider community is therefore needed.
