SPCA Midrand

The Midrand SPCA was established in 1991 as there was a great need for assistance especially taking into consideration the rapid development of Midrand and the influx of animals into residential areas.

The SPCA investigates all cruelty complaints, inspects pet shops and exhibits, takes in all stray, abandoned and unwanted animals and we have a small clinic to assist with minor wounds, sterilizations and castrations.

The SPCA’s in South Africa also inspect all Abattoirs, Hawking sites, Cole yards, Security companies and any areas where animals are used as working animals to ensure that all animals are treated in a respectful and humane manner.

The SPCA movement works on prevention of cruelty to all animals – we investigate dog fighting, rodeos, pigeon racing and any other events where animals are used for sporting purposes.

The Midrand SPCA constitutes of 10 staff members who provide shelter, love, care and food to between 120 and 150 animals at any given time.

We do not receive any Government Funding and therefore rely solely on the public for donations of food and monetary value. Without the support of the public, we would not be able to assist the community.

We are mandated to protect all animals from cruelty, neglect and ill treatment that often results from ignorance of animals and to provide a place of safety and care for all animals in distress.

The Midrand SPCA is a registered PBO and has a BEEE level 4 accreditation.
18 A Tax exemption certificate may be issued upon request.

We would like you to know that not only will your donation directly benefit the animals in our area but – through a sharing agreement between all SPCAs nationwide – a portion will be used in other, less fortunate areas to benefit animals over a wider area. We feel sure you will approve of this outreach initiative and wish to thank you most sincerely for supporting our SPCA and the movement generally

Animals enrich our lives in so many ways.
They give us joy, companionship and unconditional love.
