We are raising money for children’s books because #LiteracyChangesLives!
We need storybooks for Wordworks’ network of parents, volunteers, teachers and home-visitors. These literacy champions are working to improve literacy and give young children in their communities a better chance of learning to read and write successfully.
Reading to young children builds their language, opens up new worlds and grows a love of books. This is why we encourage caregivers and teachers to read to young children.
But books are unaffordable and it is difficult to find good quality, multilingual books for babies and young children.
So why contribute to our fund?
Because Wordworks is able to source great books at good prices and distribute them to our network. These parents, tutors, teachers and home-visitors have attended our training and use our early language and literacy programmes. Any book they receive will be put to good use.
Even a donation of R50 will put a book in the hands of a committed literacy champion and an eager young child.
